Who Won’t You Date in 2008?

by Sasha Manuel on January 20th, 2008

Back in 2006, AOL published the results of their Dating Trends Survey. Of particular interest are:

Who Won’t You Date?
For Women:
- 87% Men Without a Job
- 83% Men Who Are Their Boss
- 68% Men Who Are 10 or More Years Younger

For Men:
- 70% Women Who Are Their Boss
- 65% Women Who Are 10 or More Years Older
- 59% Women Who Live More Than 50 Miles Away

Biggest Barrier to Finding a Date?
Women:
- 24% Can’t Find Right Person/Have High Expectations
- 21% Feel Men Only Want Sex/Aren’t Serious
- 12% Think Men Lie

Men:
- 23% Can’t Find Right Person/Have High Expectations
- 13% Too Busy with Career
- 13% Think Women Carry Too Much Baggage

More stuff are available on the survey page itself. An interesting parallel is the age factor: both a significant number of men and women surveyed won’t date anyone 10 year younger or older.

In any case, 2 years is a practical eternity on the interwebs, so if you’ve got an updated source, I’d be glad to hear about it.

I am cracking up laughing at Santana’s comment! What’s interesting is that men won’t date women that are 10 plus years older but they can afford to be like that because men don’t believe that time runs out for them, and even when they’re 70, they like to make themselves feel young and virile by chasing a woman much younger.

And a man without a job is scary stuff. Not because we’re gold diggers but men are hunters and gatherers and they are not able to mentally (or egotistically cope) with earning less than a woman, never mind earning nothing! Women do like to feel secure and men that are happy to not work, normally come with a whole lotta issues.

I have to agree with you that I wouldn’t want to date or worse end up with a man without a job AND who doesn’t want to work! If men expects me to know household chores and all the women stuff, I expect them to bring in the dough. I despise spineless parasites that even have the nerve to whinge. Heh. (Sorry, touchy subject. LOL) :P
