The blowoff: How much do you put up with?

by Lara on September 19th, 2008

Okay, so there’s a post over at Cosmo on the Bedroom Blog entitled Fool Me Twice.

I’ve kind of been there, where the author is, in feeling like certain little “faux pas” get overlooked if you’re really into a guy. Things like him blowing off too many dates at the last minute, for example.

I don’t care if he’s hot, sweet, “not a musician”… there’s only so much of a character flaw that I can take these days. Blowing off dates last minute? Once, maybe. Like, in the entire scope of whatever relationship it is we’re having, I might be okay (albeit disappointed) in once. But seriously, “fool me twice” and the story might change.

I’m actually okay with things if it’s something truly out of control, like a plane failed to take off on time, or the car died, or someone’s aunt died, or whatever. But to just get a phone call that says, “Hey, I’m really sorry but I can’t make it tonight, call ya tomorrow,” is going to infuriate the hell out of me. LOL

What do you think?

I agree. Fool me once is bad enough. If he has an emergency, that’s one thing. But if he’s blowing off dates with you, do you think he’s really that into you. On vdateonline.com’s forum, there’s an article about how to know if someone is into you, and one of them is if they want to spent time with you. You know that everyone is playing a little hard to get, and that’s to be expected. Don’t spend everyday with the person, but if you make plans, they should keep em!

I have fallen into the been fooled on too many times because I am too bloody nice and trusting. Some call it being naive. But I kind of like the innocent minded side of myself. There’s only so much a person can take though.

Kristi - I’m with you on the history part… I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve realized that it really isn’t worth it to give too many second chances. It’s never THAT much better after the fact.
