There is now relatively broad public contact with the online dating world. Some 31% of American adults say they know someone who has used a dating website and 15% of American adults – about 30 million people – say they know someone who has been in a long-term relationship or married someone he or she met online. I’ve been meeting women online for more than ten years, and have gotten really comfortable with the process. I guess I’ve only had official “dating profiles” for about four years now. I had an 18-month and 4-year relationship with women I met online. I have a friend who married a woman from Match.com, another friend who is engaged to a woman from Match.com, and another friend in a relationship with a woman from eHarmony. Another friend of mine is having her boyfriend, who she met off of Craigslist, move in. Who knows how many of my friends have made up a story about where they met their mates (but actually met them online)!
