Relationship Ended at Baggage Claim
Judy lived in California; Bill in Pennsylvania. They met and fell in love over the Internet. They planned to marry and merge their families. First, however, they thought it would be wise to meet in person. So Judy planned the weekend, including a hotel with an in-room spa.
Breathlessly, she waited for Bill to deplane at LAX, but she didn’t see him. When the gate area cleared, the only people remaining were Judy and a haggard man wearing tattered clothes. It was Bill. Neither recognized the other. The pictures they had sent were 25 years old. Each had gained 40 pounds. The relationship ended at baggage claim.
I’ve been there a few times. I can’t figure out for the life of me, why people lie about their true appearance online. It’s not like the person isn’t ever going to find out.
As funny as this story sounds, it’s all too real for many who engage in the online dating scene.
What would you do or have you done when finding yourself in a similar situation?
Keep in mind, in this particular situation, both parties have lied.

That’s why I always send a picture with the date showing on a recent USA Today and ask them to do the same.
