Non Couple Moments
We all know them and in many cases it’s a real love/hate relationship. They are TV’s most notorious non-couples. They are the two that make you curl up in front of the television each and every week, just to see what transpires between these two flaming idiots that just don’t ever seem to hook-up. They’re the best of friends, the worst of enemies – but they are our addictions.
Have you ever found yourself in a friendship relationship that can easily be compared to the ever popular Rachel and Ross from Friends – or how about Maddie and Dave from Moonlighting or what about Ted and Robin from the new hit series How I Met Your Mother?
The chemistry is there, the attraction is there – but no one ever seems to have the courage to take the first step at testing the waters to see if there may be more?
I’ve found myself in that very situation a couple of times actually. Once I had to become so intoxicated that I had at least something else to blame the “impulse” on in case the advance was not reciprocated. It wasn’t! Turns out I had become intoxicated and made my move on a gay man. Wow - did I feel like a duck shot down in mid-flight! Turns out the brown bottle flu excuse does come in handy sometimes.
The second time resulted in a white hot love affair that quickly ended by going right back to being the same friends we always were. Apparently we’d been good friends so long that it almost felt as though the relationship were somehow incestuous to a degree. I’ve never felt more like the butt end of those cliché’ hillbilly jokes than I did at that time in my life. You know the old “if she ain’t good enough for her family then she ain’t good enough for ours” type jokes? Ewww.
Following those two attempts at taking a friendship, uhem, to the next level I avoided such relationship advancements at all cost.
Granted, in the end (and 8 years later), I wound up marrying a lifelong childhood friend/first kiss/first date boyfriend, but something about that seemed almost cosmic rather than a draw in the law of attraction and somehow I just knew he would be the last person on earth that would ever shoot me down – after all we’d come through so much to reach this point in our lives. It just had to be fate, because there was no other simple answer that could be used to describe it.
So there you have it! I’ve been drunk enough to think that I could turn a gay man straight and to make a pass at someone that was more like a sibling – perhaps that’s the Rambo Hillbilly in me – who knows?
I’m going to do some begging and pleading to get other b5 bloggers to contribute their stories too. So if you have a blogger you’d particularly like to see humbled, exposed and humiliated a bit, lemme know and I’ll target them just a little bit more.
Now, I’ve shown you my most embarrassing non-couple moments – now show me yours!
If you’d like to write about it in your own space and provide the link, I’d be happy to share your most embarrassing non-couple moments too. Don’t make me hang out here too long.

Gayla, I am laughing too hard at your story to think of anything! I can say that I empathise with you - my first love was just as gay as the day is long. Oh well, he loved me in his own way. :)

LMAO
And here I’d thought I was the only one!
You know, I thought more people would want to share their tales, but apparently there are a lot more non family friendly stories than there are Mickey and Minnie types - who’da thought it?
