More on Saying ‘I Love You’
I have to admit, I’m one of those women who actually likes to read the occasional mens magazine just to stay abreast of what ‘might’ be going on in the minds of the men around me.
One of my favorites to visit is AskMen.com. Ladies, if you haven’t visited AskMen yet, you might want to. There’s a lot to be learned from the informational articles they share.
While combing through one this morning, a certain phrase caught my attention:
When you tell someone you love them, you’re actually giving them permission to hurt you. If you’re a single parent you’re giving that person permission to hurt both you and your children.
What a terrible way to look at love.
Like Sasha stated in her earlier post on the topic of “Saying I Love You,” I think far too many people have become so immune to the words and are either guilty of using them too loosely or having been the victim of someone who has.
Is that the way much of the world sees the most endearing phrase of all time?
I can’t imagine losing sight of hope and love to view it as permission to pain.
