Laurie & Fahim: Finding Love in a Blog
“Here I am, ending my employment, packing house, and moving halfway around the world with my cats, no less, to marry a man from a different culture, different race, different religion, I’d known him online for less than two months, and I’d never met him in person.” — Laurie
You’ll always remember that time when you first see him or her, when you first kissed, and of course the day you say, “I do.”
What if I tell you that Laurie had experienced that in a span of one day? Well, she did. I’m NOT kidding.
My first thought was — she must’ve been insane to do such a thing as marrying a guy 8 hours after she met him the first time. Unbelievable!
However, after giving it a more careful thought, I realised that she took the risk that most of us are too terrified of taking. It reminded me of this theory I have — that the thing that scares us the most is the very thing that will help us define ourselves and our life.
So, yea. It’s a real incredible thing for Laurie and Fahim to find a love online and a happy ending, too!
I’m inviting you to read how Laurie journeyed half-way around the world to find Love. And I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Got to admit that getting married so quickly is insane! However, I do know of some very successful marriages that have formed up this way. So, what do I know!

You forgot to mention we celebrated three years together just a few days ago. :) Happily, we’re still in love, still compatible, still get along great, still laugh together, and, even better, we write science fiction sharing the same universe. :D Now THAT’s a testament to how great we are together. ;)
It WAS scary. But it was also the most right and best thing I’ve ever done in my life. :) Knowing what I know now about him, about us, about our marriage, and about this country, I’d still do the same thing. Only perhaps I’d pack things up and leave Canada a bit quicker next time. :)

Getting hitched like this is certainly NOT your typical “let’s get married” scenario. It is sorta’ romantic for a couple of people to elope, don’t you think? But like you, Love Doctor, I have the faintest idea of what should or should not be considered insane since I do know that anything is possible.
Laurie, that’s good to know. :) I’m really glad that things worked out for the both of you. I certainly hope that your love story will help clear out misplaced notions about this sort of situation. And that when it comes to love, though risks may be high, the yields are even higher. There are limitless possibilities for those who are willing enough take that leap of faith.
