A Lady’s Imagination
“A lady’s imagination is very rapid, it jumps from admiration to love, from love to marriage in a moment.” — Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice
A quote from one of my favourite books, Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen.
How much of it is true, I wonder? I won’t bother dissecting the quote since it’s pretty much self-explanatory. A woman catches a fancy, mistakes it for being in love, then once she believes that it is love, she automatically assumes that it will end in marriage. Hmmm.
I can’t say I’m ever aware of such a process but I reckon I’m guilty of such an imagination for a time or two. Okay, perhaps more but — not that much. And to further balance it out, I’m quick to shake off the thought as I was to think it. Ha. ;) Uh, well — that is if I’m really not into the guy. Hahaha.
What about you? How much of Miss Austen’s words ring true in your thoughts?
